1. Queensland's new update on the Australian immigration program 188A and 188B

After many days of waiting, finally on October 27th, 2021, the Government of Queensland Australia announced new state sponsorship conditions for the 188 Business Innovation & Investor visa subclass. . Here are the updates on Visa 188A and 188B:

Visa 188A

In addition to the main requirements set forth by  the Australian Department of Home Affairs , applicants need to demonstrate total assets of at least AUD 1.25 million. Notably, the State Government requires this property to be transferred to Queensland within 3 years of obtaining the visa.

In addition, the level of investment will also depend on the location of the business:

• A minimum of AUD 400,000 if the business intends to open in Greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast;
• A minimum of AUD 300,000 if the business intends to open in regional Queensland (regional).

Some points to note:

• Real estate development investment plans are limited from this point on.

• Imports are also not accepted, unless technology products are not available in the state. The applicant also needs to add added value to the product such as design, assembly, inspection, repair or maintenance.

Visa 188B

The Queensland Government requires applicants to demonstrate assets of at least AUD 3 million. The investment level remains the same at AUD 2.5 million as required by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
