AUSTRALIAN BORDER STARTS OPENING ON NOVEMBER 2nd, 2021

Australia started to open its borders on November 2nd, 2021 after 590 days of international border closure due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Also from 1st November 2021, Australian citizens and permanent residents will be allowed to leave Australia without applying for an exemption permit. Australian citizens and relatives who have had enough vaccines are allowed to enter, without isolation if they choose to enter Australia through New South Wales, Victoria.

1. Australian borders begin to open

Australia started to open its borders on November 2nd, 2021 after 590 days of international border closure due to the COVID-19 epidemic. First, let's take a look at the vaccination situation in Australia: 

  • 88.7% of people over 16+ have had their first injection

  • 78.51% of people over 16+ have been fully vaccinated

  • More than 36 million doses of vaccines have been given to Australians

2. Who will be allowed to enter after the Australian border opens?

New Zealand

Passengers who have had the full dose of vaccine from New Zealand and tested negative for COVID-19 before departure will be allowed to enter Australia. Note that passengers arriving in New South Wales will not need to undergo a quarantine period. However, it still has to comply with some accompanying conditions.

Australia's states

From November 21st, 2021, people from other cities and states can freely travel to New South Wales and Victoria, the two most populous states in Australia. Eligibility applies to those who have had the full dose of the vaccine and tested negative for COVID-19.

Singapore

Also from November 21st, 2021, Singaporeans will be able to enter Australia. This is good news after the meeting between Australian Prime Minister, Mr. Scott Morrison and his Singaporean counterpart, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong at the Rome conference.

Last week, Singapore also allowed passengers from Australia to enter, adding to the list of 12 safe countries that are allowed to enter the Lion Island, which includes the UK and the United States.

3. Life in Australia is slowly returning to normal

Also from 1st November 2021, Australian citizens and permanent residents will be allowed to leave Australia without applying for an exemption permit. Australian citizens and relatives who have had enough vaccines are allowed to enter, without isolation if they choose to enter Australia through New South Wales, Victoria.

Life in Australia has gradually returned to normal and is open to citizens from all over the world. However, this opening will take place slowly and carefully to ensure the safety of people from the COVID-19 epidemic.
