Nova Scotia is currently accepting immigration applications from food service applicants through the Skilled Demand Stream. The pandemic has hit the restaurant industry hard. As such, Canada has been experiencing labor shortages in food services. Nova Scotia is no exception.
To address this, Nova Scotia has added three new eligible occupations to the Demand Stream Occupations stream:
NOC 6513 (Food and beverage servers)
NOC 6711 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations)
NOC 6731 (Light duty cleaners)
Businesses can hire employees according to the above positions without having to get an LMIA. Additionally, employees do not need to work the full 6 months to be able to apply for Nova Scotia's provincial nomination program.
“We are delighted to welcome newcomers who are helping business owners out of labor shortages,” said Jill Balser, Nova Scotia Immigration Minister. “The tourism, restaurant and hospitality industries are very important to our province's economy. This change will help industries get the workforce to prepare for the busy tourist season.”

NOC 3413 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates)

NOC 6711 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations)
NOC 6731 (Light duty cleaners)
NOC 7511 (Transport truck drivers),
