NEW IMPORTANT POLICY IN NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA

FREDERICTON (GNB) – The province of New Brunswick (NB) is piloting a new immigration stream to help support the province's growing labor needs, in partnership with the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Starting April 1, 2022, international students who graduate from one of New Brunswick's four established private vocational colleges and have studied one of the 19 occupations on the designated list, will be able to apply into the Provincial Nominee Program, allowing them to work and live in the province while awaiting permanent residency.

1. List of private vocational training schools in NB

  • Atlantic Business College;
  • Eastern College;

  • McKenzie College; and

  • Oulton College.

“We are delighted that we can help retain more international students by opening an avenue of innovation for New Brunswick,” said Arlene Dunn, Minister for Opportunities NB. “With increasing competition for skilled labor, the potential to convert international students into permanent residents is crucial.”

Minister for Labour, Training and Post-Secondary Education, Trevor Holder said: “This initiative is something we have been working on for quite some time and we are delighted that the program has officially taken place. consciousness is passed”.  

The program will be available to students who have recently graduated from designated institutions, or who are not currently eligible for the federal Post-Graduation Work Permit program.

2. Occupations targeted for this pilot include

  • Social and community service workers;/ social and community service workers;
  • Early childhood educators and assistants;/ early childhood educators and assistants;
  • Educational assistants;/ educational assistants;
  • Health-care assistants;/ health-care aids;
  • Support staff at home;/ home support workers;
  • Licensed practical nurses;/ licensed practical nurses;
  • Health workers and related occupations;/ paramedics and related occupations;
  • Medical laboratory technicians;/ medical laboratory technologists;
  • Medical laboratory technicians and pathologists' assistants;/ medical laboratory technicians and pathologists' assistants;
  • Medical administrative assistants;/ medical administrative assistants;
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers; computer programmers and interactive media developers;
  • Web design and development; web designers and developers;
  • Computer network technicians;/ computer network technicians;
  • User support technicians;/ user support technicians;
  • Accounting technicians and bookkeepers;/ accounting technicians and bookkeepers;
  • Payroll staff;/ payroll clerks;
  • Shippers and consignees;/ shippers and receivers;
  • Supply chain and logistics monitoring; / supply chain and logistics supervisors; and
