1. The Australian Government opens its doors to foreign tourists on October 23, 2021

From November, Australian citizens, permanent residents and family members who have received 2 doses of the vaccine will be allowed to enter. The Australian government will pilot it in New South Wales and South Australia. Those entering the border only need to isolate at home for 7 days.

Up to now, the Australian Government only accepts the following vaccines:

• Sinovac

• Covishield

• Pfizer

• AstraZeneca

• Modern

• COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen

Australia will gradually open up to other visa categories such as study or work, skilled and finally tourists. "I am very confident because we have prepared well for this day, and opening to international visitors later this year is extremely possible," Prime Minister Morrison said on Friday.

Specifically, Australia and Singapore are in the final stages of negotiations to open their doors to visitors from Singapore, which has achieved a vaccination rate of up to 84%. 

After a lot of work, Australia hit a huge milestone this week with more than 70% of people over the age of 16 being vaccinated. In July, the Morrison government also launched a handover plan to ensure 70-80% of the population is vaccinated before welcoming international visitors.

In addition, Melbourne also eased restrictions on Friday, after more than 9 months of struggling with 6 rounds of blockade since March 2020.
