1. The special program from TR to PR expires

The Canadian government website confirms that the intake will end on November 5. New applications will not be accepted, but those who have previously applied will still be able to log in to the portal. online to check the status of their application.

Launching on May 6, the TR to PR programs were created to  provide immigration options for needy workers, international graduates and French speakers.  Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) aims to admit 90,000 immigrants through English-only programs. However, even including French programs is not enough to set the target.

There are currently more than 13,000 positions available for essential workers in healthcare jobs in the English stream. Unlike French streams, English streams are limited. The stream for international graduates filled up within 25 hours of the program opening, and the stream for non-healthcare essential workers ended in July.

For the French streams, the government reports that nearly 6,000 people have been applied to these three programs. Immigration Canada could be tasked with around 89,500 applications for these streams, not including a few mailed to assist candidates with disabilities.

These charter programs were created in part to help IRCC meet its target of admitting 401,000 new immigrants to Canada by 2021. The strategy is to take in as many temporary residents in Canada as possible, in time. but travel restrictions stemming from the Covid epidemic brought immigration to a standstill.

Canada has received 267,000 immigrants so far, after admitting more than 45,000 in September alone.
